End Bullying

OK so usually I would come on to my blog to write about a game or other light-hearted topics, but this time I'm talking about something serious. Stop bullying, whether it be online or in real life. It truly hurts the victim and doesn't benefit the bully anyway. Basically, it's violent, mean, and pointless so no one wins! When I was younger, I was bullied for many reasons. I was short, I was mixed, I was gay, I was different. But that doesn't mean anyone should pick on me for it. However, because of the experiences in life I've already been through, I didn't let the bullying get to me. But I had a friend who was bullied for being gay as well, he wasn't as strong as I am.
A year ago my best friend since 2nd grade Carter (not his real name for personal reasons) took his life after being constantly bullied by his peers over his sexuality. Now I'm not defending suicide, because I know that it only hurts the ones you love and is never the answer. I'm just making a point that making fun of others is terrible. He was constantly physically and verbally abused by his classmates. Even some of the teachers didn't treat him as well as they should have. It was terrible, and if you looked into his eyes each day you could see he was slowly wasting away. The hate and darkness was eating away at his very being down to his core until there was nothing left. A few weeks before he took his life, Carter was nothing but a hollow shell of his former self. You could literally see how painful it was for him to exist.
Despite his physical changes and his sluggish actions, the bullies were relentless as ever and continued to taunt him. He had no will left to defend himself, and no will left to live. So after school one day, he hung himself in his kitchen when his parents went out. Because of the mean people who tortured him, Carter is now gone forever. His parents and family were devastated, as was I when I found out days later. The loss of a human life is a very important and invaluable thing. It can't be replaced. So don't toy with people in such a harsh manner, especially if you know they could be suicidal.
Now, I'm not saying every situation is like this. Bullying isn't always so bad and so terrible, so don't let it get you down. Be yourself because you're a beautiful individual who deserves to live and make something of yourself. No being that exists has the right to tell you otherwise. Did bullies get me down sometimes? Yes. Did I pull through it OK? Yes. Should I keep quiet and let it happen to some other poor victim? No. Do everything you can to put an end to it. Tell adults if someone is harming you repeatedly, or get friends to tell them off. Don't keep quiet, speak out. I guess I'm done for my rant, have a nice day and please contemplate what I've said.
